Xmas and New Year round-up

Happy new year everyone to what was an interesting time in the Premiership and firstly what an amazing match last night's Darts final was! I still though, even when Barney got back to 5-5 that Taylor would still win, but good for Barney!

Spurs had an indifferent festive period, a decent win against Villa was marred previously to our usual dreadful show at Newcastle, and unlucky defeat to a decent Liverpool side who certainley road their luck in the 2nd half. The draw to Pompey yesterday was a result I'd have taken before the game but on view, I reckon we could of beaten them and James had to make 2 great saves to get their point. Still, another decent performance away from home - 4 points from the last 3 away games shows improvement.

West Ham are on the other hand are finding ways to make defending even more comedic by their own high calamoutous standards. I agree with Pardew's sacking, but Curbishley has taken over and has done NOTHING to change things. He's playing the same rubbish players (NOT the Argies which is ridiculous) and they're still getting mullered every week! What's he going to do differently to Pardew to keep them up? On current evidence - nothing.

As for the Ashes, yes Melbourne was a disaster, but let's face it, the 1st 2 tests were the major disasters, and the awful selections. The team simply don't want to be there now and only weather will prevent a 5-0 whitewash. Let's get them back from the World Cup and sort out the following:

1. A new coach - Fletcher time is come to depart
2. New selectors - Graveney and Miller have been good for 7 years, but we need new opinions
3. Captain - get Vaughan fit and back as leader

Then we can start the home test series' against West Indies and India with new ideas and 2 years of new methods and players to take on the Aussies in 2009.

Well it's all over now, thrashed 5-0 and the real truth is coming out. We had only 7 days of match practice before the Ashes because the players didn't want to extend the tour. It's time to go back to the touring old days... long tours ..no wives or girlfriends and more practice.
