Well Zara Phillips wins the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Now all this proves to me that 2006 has been a total abberation for British Sport. Let's face it if England had been successful in football, cricket or rugby - they'd be no way she'd have been on the shortlist, let alone win! It's a sad state of affairs that the only cricketer nominated is one who can't even get in the team, left out for a useless old codger who can't bowl, bat or field and is mates with the coach.
In real sports news, Spurs (my team so they'll be mentioned a bit on here) thrashed Charlton - who were the worst Premiership side I have ever seen in my 8 years of having a season ticket at the Lane. They were pathetic and allowed us to carve them up at will. They're going down with Watford who just can't score a goal and possibly West Ham if they keep Pardew. How he hasn't been sacked yet is a mystery - yes they did well last season, but only cause they knew they're a team with Championship ability and had to work hard to get results. Now they're big time charlies and think they can just turn up and win. Wrong - you're two bob and going down.
And then onto the pantomime that was Chelsea vs Arsenal. How Drogba gets away with his antics every game is a mystery - is there a most hated player in the Premiership? Him and Lehman's barging match was an embarrasement to them both who are the most petty-ist players I've ever seen and both didn't deserve to be on the pitch. Lehmann at 37 should know better, but then he's been doing that his whole career - once a child, always a child.
The 3rd test match starts this week, but who really cares? As mentioned in my Ashes round up below, Fletcher has ruined the whole series and deflated a whole nation by picking his mates, rather than players on form in 2006. I won't be staying up all night to watch Giles (he will pick him) get twatted around the ground.
