The new book ready for Christmas:
Freddie Flintoff: From Hero to Prick
Ok it's not all Freddie's fault, but he simply should not be captain. The team selection though has been a disgrace to those who want to be picked on merit:
Giles: Dropped Ponting, got 0 and bowled with absolute no threat whatsoever - good pick
Anderson: 1-48585759594 and that 1 wicket was Glen Mcgrath and bowled with no threat whatsoever
Geraint Jones, total of 11 runs in the match, dropped Clarke twice
Steve Harmison, 0-135 and no threat whatsoever
All out for 129 on a pitch that offered nothing for the bowlers
Fletcher and Graveney must go. They've been good for England the last 5/6 years, but they have truley cocked this whole series up by picking unfit players who aint that good anyway, picking a team not on form but on favourtism and going with a captain who has never won a test series.
Picking Panesar now doesn't matter, it's too late, the Ashes have been lost and it's all down to bizzare management selections:
Lack of preparation
The bizarre selections
The general timidity of our play
Today's play is basically summed up as:
3 of those wickets were down to wank shots and a run out!
3 boundaries today, 30 runs in the first session, run rate of 1.3 - Flecther "Not once did we bat for time"...
Giles and meaningless 22, a meaningful 0 and a dropped catch off Ponting when he was on 35!
With Anderson a poor test bowler (always has been), Harmison woefully out of form we need someone else who can take wickets, to play Giles is so defensive and cautious and we payed for it!
I can boast and say my early predictions were right but I was just stating the obvious! This whole series has been a sambles from when the tour party was announced to just after the 2nd test. Duncan Fletcher, David Graveney and to some extent Flintoff (for picking his mates not players on merit) are to blame for this.
